There are plenty of free water parks in the Brisbane region that you can take the kids to. They are:
- Southbank Parklands, Southbank
- Orion Lagoon, Springfield
- The Mill Waterpark, Moreton Bay
- Ferny Grove Aqua Park, Ferny Grove
- Wynnum Wading Pool, Wynnum
- Hercules Street Park
So if you need to cool your kids off and burn some energy in the summer months, do yourself a favour and visit one or some of these places.
Southbank Parklands, Southbank
Centrally located in Brisbane, the Southbank Parklands offers your kids three different swimming areas to play in.
Streets Beach
With its own sand, this pool will make you think you are at the beach. It is shallow near the edge of the pool but it does become deep the further out you go. Make sure you keep an eye on the little ones.
Boat Pool
This swimming pool is ideal for the kids to be able to swim and dive around. The water here is deeper than the other swimming areas so it is definitely for the kids who are more independent in the water.
Lagoon
This is a great wading area for toddlers and babies who have just begun to walk. With water fountains and water play areas, this area is great to keep toddlers engaged and enjoying the water.
There are areas of deep water so make sure you supervise your kids.
There is plenty of paid parking around, but if you want to try and find cheaper parking try the Wilson Parking smartphone app to find cheaper pricing for parking.

Orion Lagoon, Springfield
30 minutes south of Brisbane is Orion Lagoon. It is made up of two different swimming areas:
- A large lagoon for swimming and diving and splashing around.
- A shallower swim area that is around 0.6 metres deep which is good for the younger kids to can’t swim.
There is free parking at the shopping centre across the road here, but it can get busy on the warmer days.
Directions to Orion Lagoon, Springfield.
The Mill Waterpark, Moreton Bay
The Mill waterpark at Moreton Bay has a splash pad which has lots of overhead water buckets and fountains to run around in. There aren’t any deep areas of water so you can let your young toddlers run around without having to keep the closest eye on them.
There is also a great playground next to the splash park which is suitable for both younger and older kids.

Ferny Grove Aqua Park, Ferny Grove
Ferny Grove is another splash pad that has zero water depth. This means it is suitable for all ages and abilities. There are lots of jet fountains, misting sprayers and small and large overhead water buckets which will keep the kids excited in anticipation for when the bucket fills up and tips over.
Make a full day of it with the other facilities in the area :
- BBQs
- Picnic facilities
This would even be an ideal place to hold a kids birthday party.

Wynnum Wading Pool, Wynnum
This must be the oldest free aqua park in Brisbane, originally opening in 1932.
The pool is filled with seawater at high tide. It is deeper than ankle depth so the younger kids are going to have to be watched closely. In the middle of the wading pool is a spiral slide for the younger kids.
There are picnic and BBQ facilities just metres away from the wading pool.
The Wynnum Wading Pool is 0.75 metres deep in the centre, 128 metres long and 54 metres wide.

Hercules Street Park, Hamilton
Next to Hercules Street Park, there is a misting and waterfall area where kids can run around and cool off.
There isn’t anywhere to swim or to get your ankles wet, but this is a great feature on a great park, and safe for kids of all ages.
