Recently my family and I stayed at the iStay Precinct in Adelaide. It is positioned within walking distance to several shops and amenities.
Overall our stay was enjoyable, however, there were a few surprises that we wish we knew ahead of time.
Read on below to find out if this will be a suitable place for you and your family to stay at.
Driving directions to iStay Precinct Adelaide.
Booking Here
To make a booking at the iStay Precinct Adelaide you can book directly at the Oaks website or you can book through Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia or Wotif.com to name a few.
One thing to check when booking is the photos of the unit you are booking, the units are all individually owned and the condition of the units can be wildly different from room to room. We didn’t do this and ended up booking a very dated room that felt like it needed a really good clean and new carpet.
There are plenty of recently renovated and clean looking units, so just make sure you are happy with what you end up choosing.
Checking In
If arriving by car you can park either on Morphett Street outside of the building or you can pull into Mellor Street and park at the end of the laneway while checking in.
You can then walk to reception from either side of the building through the glass sliding doors and speak to reception to get the keys to your room.
Free parking is onsite, but the parking isn’t assigned to any one car.
Inside the Unit
The unit that we booked was a two-bedroom unit. It was spacious and had all the facilities that you would expect.
- Washing and drying machine
- Stovetop and oven
- Dishwasher
- Fridge
- Airconditioning
The furniture and carpet were quite old in our unit and the unit was ready for a renovation or a freshening up.
We requested a bassinet to be supplied and what we got was good and was comfy for our baby.
There was also a little study nook in the main bedroom which was a handy place to get some space and do some work done while the kids were awake.
Outside of the iStay Precinct Adelaide
The iStay is located next to the Altitude residential tower, which is where you will find the pool and other facilities to which you will have access (on Level 6).
Swimming Pool & Other Facilities
In the Altitude residential tower on level 6 is the swimming pool, spa, sauna and steam room. If you are staying at the iStay you will have access to these facilities.
The pool is over 20 metres long and sticks out from the building to enhance your view.
On top of the pool, there is a spa, sauna and steam room, as well as a toilets and change room.
The only thing that is missing is a gym, which would have been great to have.
Shops Nearby
There are plenty of shops and cafes nearby that are able to be walked to.
Final Thoughts
Overall I would rate my experience staying here a 4/5. If the unit was cleaner it would have been a 5-star stay.
I hope that you found this useful to your booking decision, and if travelling to Adelaide have a great time.
