Gold Coast Stand up paddle boarding family

The Gold Coast has a range of great spots for paddleboarding to suit everyone. You can paddle in some great creeks or rivers and if you are keen you can go in the surf.

Here are our favourite spots for paddle boarding on the Gold Coast.

Map Of Stand Up Paddle Spots On The Gold Coast

Currumbin Creek, Palm Beach & Currumbin

Currumbin Creek is a very popular beach for stand up paddle boarders. This is because the creek is protected from the waves of the ocean which makes the water very smooth for beginners and great for families who just want a chilled day out on the water.

If you have the skills or are just brave enough, you can paddle past the sand bar and try your luck in the water.

If you are in the market for a new paddleboard check out JM Stand Up Paddle Company, or if you just want to hire one for the day check out Currumbin Boatshed Bait and Tackle.

Tallebudgera Creek, Burleigh & Palm Beach

Tallebudgera Creek is probably the most picturesque of all the paddle boarding spots up the coast of the Gold Coast.

With crystal clear water and a nice and protected beach, this is a great place to have a relaxing paddle. If you want to test yourself out you can paddle several kilometres up the creek (make sure you don’t do it so you have to paddle against the tide on the way back).

Hire stand up paddleboards are available at All Coast Paddle Board Hire or Action Outdoor Hire.

Tallebudgera Creek is a beautiful place to wind down.

Budds Beach, Surfers Paradise

If you are staying closer to Surfers Paradise and keen to get out and do some stand-up paddleboarding on some flat water, Budds Beach is the one for you.

Tucked away from the main surf break this is a great flat water spot for your paddleboarding. This spot has several different companies you can hire a SUP from or get some lessons like Go Vertical Stand Up Paddle Board Hire or SUP In Paradise.

Bring the family down here and some games because there is plenty of room to throw the frisbee or a game of beach cricket.

Doug Jennings Park, Seaway Drive, The Spit & Coral Sea

If you don’t want to paddle around with the boats and jet skis going up and down the Gold Coast Seaway, then this is the most northern best stand up paddleboard beach on the Gold Coast.

With plenty of parking available there will be no shortage of space in the water for you to chill out on your SUP.

Contact the guys at Cheyne Horan Stand Up Paddle Board Hire if you want to hire some gear for the day.

Cudgen Creek, Kingscliff

The place looks like a postcard, with water so clear and tranquil. From on top of a paddleboard, you will have great views of “The Creek”.

If you are feeling adventurous you can paddle up to 9km to Cabarita Lake. Of course, you can also just do a few hundred metres if that sounds too much for you.
