You don’t need to pay lots of money and go to a theme park to take your kids to a water park. Here are some free options on the Gold Coast for water parks that are suitable for younger kids.
If you want free and water then you can also visit our blog on waterfalls and swimming holes on the Gold Coast.
The Rockpools, Broadwater Parklands, Southport
The rock pools are a great free water park that will suit kids up to ages 6 or 7. The smaller kids who can’t swim can walk and crawl around in the shallow pool, river or under the waterfall. The older kids will have fun throwing balls around and just splashing around.
Pack a picnic and make a day of it. There are parks and BBQs and plenty of open space for you to do heaps of other activities nearby.

Westfield, Coomera
At the kid’s playground at the Westfield in Coomera, there is also a mini water park. With water no deeper than mid-shin height, it is an ideal water playground for young kids to be able to move around independently of their adults (but always supervised).
There is also a great playground that they can play on if they want some dry fun.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Currumbin
While it isn’t free to get into Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, once in you will have access to their water park at no extra cost. Better yet, if you get a season pass then you will be able to get in for free whenever you want.
There aren’t any pools or splash pools here. It’s mostly just water coming down from the overhead structure. Still a good play for the kids and a great way to cool off when walking about Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
