Mantra Crown Towers Surfers Paradise

This is a detailed review of my families (wife + 2 kids) experience at the Mantra Crown Towers in Surfers Paradise.

The Mantra Crown Towers in Surfers Paradise is an ideal hotel for a family holiday. The benefits of staying there with your family are:

  • Large bedrooms and living areas,
  • Dual bathrooms,
  • Close proximity to the beach, local restaurants and shopping,
  • Gym,
  • Spa, hot room and sauna (currently closed due to COVID-19), and
  • The best swimming pool and aquatic play area for the kids.

Whether you are travelling from abroad, interstate or just a local looking for a change of scene, treat the family and yourself to a stay at the Mantra Crown Towers in Surfers Paradise.

I recently travelled here to stay with my family (wife + 2 kids). We were attending a local wedding and a lot of the wedding party were also staying here. To make the wedding feel like a holiday for us we decided to stay here for 3 nights.

The Pools

I’ll be honest, the pool is the reason I consider Mantra Crown Towers to be the best hotel on the Gold Coast for families. There are 3 pools on-site, which are:

The Lagoon

The Lagoon is surrounded by deck chairs for you to set up to watch the kids play or to just leave your gear while you get in and have a dip yourself. There must be some level of heating in the lagoon, but it is still a little fresh FYI for most adults.

There is a shallow area for the kids to run and splash around in. Then if they want to go and explore they can swim under a bridge and around an island to circle back to the start.

The island in the middle also features a cave with a waterfall covering the opening. This is all very exciting for the adults and kids and certainly creates some fun games with the kids.

Depth of this pool goes from 0m to 1m to 1.8m at its deepest.

The Pirate Pool

The pirate pool is smaller than the lagoon, with the depth range being from 1.1m to 1.4m. The pool is also heated.

The main attraction in this pool is the pirate ship. My kids could go round and down on this slide all day long. When it’s time to leave the pool they always slip in an extra couple of slides.

There is a more of a wading area away from the pirate ship for the smaller kids, surrounded by turtles that they can climb.

And next to this area there is even a playground for the kids to play on.

The Indoor Pool

The indoor pool is heated and its depth is anywhere from about 1.4m to 1.8m. There are steps to get into the pool which is where the smaller kids can hang around as a safe area if they can’t touch the bottom.

Other Facilities & Services

Gym

The gym is pretty good for a hotel gym. It has a few machines and free weights so you have no excuse on letting your exercise regime slip.

Sauna, Hot Room & Spa

Unfortunately, these were all closed due to COVID-19 when I visited this hotel. I’m sure they would be good facilities to use once re-opened.

Eating Out In Surfers Paradise

There are plenty of options for eating out at any time of the day in Surfers Paradise. Below is what I’d recommend.

Breakfast & Lunch

Baritalia

This cafe is just 450m down the road from Mantra Crown Towers. The breakfast options available are standard but the quality of the food and coffee is excellent.

While the name suggests that it is Italian cuisine, the menu covers a broad range of tastes that should have most people coming back for more.

Sandbar

Don’t be surprised if you have a little wait at the Sandbar. It is a really popular cafe and for a good reason. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. And to top it off you get to have a view of the beach.

Pool Cafe, Mantra Crown Towers

At the pool, there is a little “hole in the wall” cafe. I was very surprised by the quality of the coffees here. It’s not the biggest cafe which is reflected in the smaller menu, but they can do all the regular breakfast items. This is a great place if you are not in the mood to walk anywhere and want the kids to burn some energy early in the morning.

Dinner

Chiangmai Thai

Chiangmai Thai is attached to the Mantra Crwon Towers. If you like Thai food then why bother walking anywhere when you could just book in here for dinner.

With a Google rating of 4.3 stars out of 518 reviews, its safe to say that you will be happy with your dining experience here.

The Room

When I stayed, my family and I were in a 2 bedroom + ensuite room. All of my comments will be based on this.

Living Areas

The living areas were large and well furnished. None of the furnishings were new but they were in good condition.

Bathroom & Ensuite

Again the condition was fine. Bathroom linen was supplied.

Kitchen

The kitchen was a full-service kitchen and all of the cookware and dinnerwear you would need to look after yourself.

Bedrooms

The main bedroom had a king double, tv, ensuite and walkin wardrobe.

The kids room had two singles and a detached bathroom.

Laundry

Our apartment had a fully equiped laundry with a washing machine, ironing board, iron, and clothes dryer.

Things To Do While Staying

Mini Golf & Trampoline

Right across from the hotel there is a mini golf course and a trampoline/bungy jumping thing. If the kids need a break, take them here.

Slingshot

If you are feeling the need to do something silly, take yourself to the Slingshot. I’ve done this ride four times now and love it.

The Slingshot is right across the road from the hotel, and that should be enough of a reason to have a go. My tip would be to do it at night time (if you can), while you can’t see as much of the view, there’s something about bouncing around in the dark which makes it more exciting.

Conclusion

The Mantra Crown Towers in Surfers Paradise is a great place for a family to stay. With all of the onsite and surround features, you will have an enjoyable time with your partner and kids.

It also is smack bang in the middle of Surfers Paradise which is a great place to explore north and south of the Gold Coast.

Go and stay and have a great time with your family at this affordable and quality accommodation.
