Mount Larcom Climb
The mountain, Mount Larcom, is 632 metres tall and is an 18-minute drive east of the township of Mount Larcom. From the top of the mountain, you will have uninterrupted 360-degree views, and be able to see all the way to Gladstone, and on a clear day the islands east of Rockhampton.
The climb will take approximately 4 to 5 hours to return the almost 7-kilometre hike, and there are areas of loose rocks and almost vertical slopes. Many hiking and walking websites consider this hiking track very difficult and is not a suitable climb for novice hikers.
Make sure you have enough water and snacks to last you the entire walk. You should carry one litre of water for every hour you will be walking. You should also avoid climbing the mountain on days with extreme heat.
The below map shows the starting point of the climb. To keep you on track there are blue dots and yellow markers along the track.
