Palazzo Versace Review – A Luxurious Stay On The Gold Coast

Written By George Mylne  |  Gold Coast  |  0 Comments

Recently I got to spend one night at the Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast. This has to be one of the luxurious hotels on the Gold Coast. The entire building is art and the staff provide excellent service.

Staying at the Plazzo Versace will give you and your partner a memorable experience.

Dining Experience

The Palazzo Versace has two inhouse restaurants, Vanitas and Il Barocco. Both offer an excellent dining experience and promote locally sourced food as part of their menu. Because the food is locally sourced the menu always changes due to seasonality.

During my stay, we went for dinner at Il Barocco, so naturally, I will have more to say about my dining experience there.

Il Barocco

Dinner

Positioned to the side of the main foyer, Il Barocco serves up a variety of meals with local produce and fresh meats and seafood.

For dinner, we had the seafood platter for two. It was a large plate with lobster, prawns, crab, Moreton Bay bug, calamari, oysters and more. This was by far the freshest tasting seafood I’ve eaten on the Gold Coast.

The wait staff were very professinal and added to the experience.

The dress code was smart casual, and a reservation was required.

Breakfast

The Il Barocco have a buffet breakfast also (which requires a booking also).

The buffet breakfast has all of the regular items (eggs, homemade beans, sausages, pancakes, and more), and all extremely tasty. The barista also made an excellent coffee.

Vanitas

I didn’t dine at Vanitas so can’t comment on the food. I image the food and service to be a step above Il Barocco if the price tag is anything to go by.

Some quick fire facts about Vanitas:

  • Bookings are required,
  • Children over 9 years of age can dine here, and
  • Evening wear for dinner, and smart casual for lunch.

The Bar And Live Music

On the other side of the lobby, there is a bar. The bar staff there can serve up a large variety of spirits, wines and cocktails. Table service adds to the experience of your stay.

While you are sitting back sipping on your drink you can enjoy the live music at the bar. When I was there, we got to enjoy a trio of musicians perform (piano/singer, bass and saxophone).

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is long! 63 metres long to be exact. Grab a towel and settle into a poolside cabana, there is also a pool service if you are in need of any drinks. The pool even has its own “beach”, with a little stretch of sand that (if you had them with you) the kids would have a great time playing with.

Other Amenities

Gym

Don’t let your holiday kill your motivation, there is an onsite gym so your fitness doesn’t have to skip a beat.

Spa

At the time of my stay, the spa was closed due to Covid, and unfortunately, there wasn’t much information available about what the services there are like.

Summary

The Palazzo Versace is a great couple luxury getaway, and if you can manage it I’d recommend staying two nights!
