Pirate Park, Palm Beach

One of the top parks on the Gold Coast, Pirate Park will always be a big hit with your kids. On top of the great playground, there is also easy access to Currumbin Creek, a kid-friendly beach, which is right next to the park and very close to some convenient free car parking, and lots of flat footpaths that your kids can ride their bikes and scooters around.

In 2022, the council spent $1.4 million to upgrade and revamp the park with new equipment and a fresh layout.

The park is loaded with fun-filled equipment that your kids will love. This is one of those parks where you could easily spend the whole day with your kids.

The Playground

The playground is full of play equipment that will engage your child’s imagination and keep them active.

The centerpiece of the park is the pirate shipwreck and a giant slide that comes down from the crows nest. Then all around the pirate ship are other pieces of play equipment like climbing ropes and netting under the ship’s deck, swings, merry-go-rounds, a ship deck, cannons, boxes, ladders, rope bridge, flying fox, and a smaller toddler play boat.

The 7 metre high suspension bridge to the crows’ nest and slide adds some extra excitement for the kiddies.

The playground is only partially fenced, and being so close to a car park, footpath, and beach, the parents will need to be on their A-game, keeping an eye on their kids to keep them away from harms way.

There are no lifeguards on duty at the swimming beach, so if your kids do venture to the beach to play in the water and sand, you will need to keep up with them and join them on the beach.

The Beach

Just to the east of the playground is a kid-friendly beach, which is a part of Currumbin Creek.

There are showers just nearby that you can use to clean the sand from your feet and beach toys.

Please note that there are no lifeguards on duty, so you will need to closely supervise your kids if they come to the water.

The facilities at the Pirate Park include:

The park is pram and wheelchair accessible, with plenty of flat footpaths around the parklands. However, unfortunately, there is no play equipment suitable for wheelchair-bound people.

Final Thoughts

With all of these features and the great facilities, it’s not hard to see why this park is one of the more popular parks on the Gold Coast.
