Wine and Serenity – A Couples Guide to an Overnight Stay At Sirromet Winery

If you are looking for a change of pace to slow down and relax from your busy lifestyle, a stay at Sirromet Winery is exactly what you need. Stay on your own or with your partner to share the benefits, you will find yourself content with sampling some of the great wine and food produced on-site, taking in the natural sights and sounds, and relaxing with a book on your balcony or catching up on some needed rest.

Highlights Of Staying At Sirromet Winery are:

  • The wine tasting,
  • Enjoying some quality food,
  • Quality private accommodation inside and out,
  • The peace and feeling of remoteness, and
  • Taking in the sights and sounds of Australian bushland and fauna.

I got to enjoy staying here with my lovely wife and we had a great time catching up on some rest, enjoying some new wines, getting some jogs in and having more time for each other.

Accommodation

There are a total of 18 detached cabins that you can stay at. Each cabin is at least 20 metres (some cases even more) giving each of the residents who stay the privacy and peace that you would expect when staying here.

The cabins are serviced daily by the staff who replace any used cutlery and dinnerwear and replace the towels.

Each cabin is elevated off the ground, giving you better views of the bushland and lake views. On top of the elevated floor, they have a safari tent studio cabin with a built-in toilet and bathroom.

The cabins don’t have a full kitchen (nothing to cook your own food with) but the facilities of the kitchen are:

  • Coffee pod machine (with coffee pods),
  • Small fridge and freezer, and
  • Cutlery and dinnerwear.

Dining & Food Experience

Lunch & Dinners

We ate our lunches and dinners at the Tuscan Terrace each day and night. I imagine that this place can get busy on the weekends so having a booking should be organised before you even get there.

The menu had a large variety of items which should please most people with different dietary requirements.

For our lunches, we opted for a woodfired pizza. These were delicious and highly recommended.

For our dinners, we went for the pasta and steak meals which were again very good.

Breakfast

As part of our booking we chose to have a room delivered breakfast hamper which for our stay consisted of:

  • Smoked salmon and capers,
  • 2 x croissants,
  • 2 x bread rolls,
  • Yoghurt and granola, and
  • Milk and juice.

Breakfast on the balcony overlooking the view was a fantastic way to start the day.

Things To Do

Wine Tasting

Of course, you need to try the wine tasting when you get to Sirromet Winery, why else would you go to a winery?

For a $5 fee, you can sample 6 of the produced wines. I left the selecting of wines up to the expert who was taking us through our tasting experience. We must have had similar tastes as I liked his recommendations, and ended up buying 4 out of the 6 wines I tried.

Bush Walking

There is a self-guided bushwalk that runs around the lake. I used this track as a jogging track during the stay also.

Lavender Farm

It is widely accepted that lavender does relax you. So as a bonus to help you further relax there is a lavender farm out the front of the Sirromet Winery. You can stroll through here at your own pace smelling the lavender scents.

Super Golf

Other than knowing Super Golf was there I can’t say much else about it as we didn’t play it. We did walk the course and it looked quite nice and would be a good game to play with the kids.

FYI Super Golf uses larger clubs and large softballs and there is a smaller distance between the tee to the green. It’s a game that should be able to be played by both adults and older kids.

Should You Stay?

If you are wanting to take a break to just relax for a night or two and you enjoy a nice glass of wine, then yes, yes you should stay here. You won’t regret it.
